Gator glue

I've read somewhere that this is a good alternative for ca glue. But it seems it is hard to find, at least at any of the hobby or craft stores in my neck of the woods. Any suggestions or feedback would greatly be appreciated.

Looks like he has temporarily suspended sales of masks and glue to take care of an illness in the family?? Hopefully all is well and he can bring the store back. I love the Gators Grip glue he sells, works really well. I will have to use the rest of my bottle sparingly now!!

I use it a lot. It is good stuff, but does not seem to be much different than Elmers glue...

Try two products used in cabinet shops to glue hard, dissimilar materials like melamine to melamine, or bond one such surface to porous surfaces like wood, paper, etc . When I first heard of Gator Glue, I was impressed with how much it sounded like stuff I've used for cabinets, so I did some tests using Roo brand adhesive and Franklin Melamine Adhesive. Attaching scrap PE to styrene, side by side with Locktite Super Glue proved to me that either of the cab glues were superior in shear strength and allowed more working time. Bonus is that the cabinet glues thin with water (to a certain point) and clean up with water when wet, and with DNA or IPA when dry.

This is not to take away from Gator - I'm not a chemist - but the Cab glues are available from home centers or woodwork suppliers, and to my mind they're very similar and much cheaper (under $10 for a pint). I don't think Roo or Franklin would work well for thin CA applications, but for medium to thick situations, I prefer them, and happen to have a "lifetime" supply on hand.

Sounds like some good suggestions for alternates. What is IPA? Isopropyl Alcohol? DNA- Denatured Alcohol?

I've used it for about a year or so. In my experience it's not as strong a bond as CA, but it's stronger than Elmer's. It's also a lot more forgiving than any CA.

Gator glue nicely fills the gap, ( pun intended) between CA and micro clear, elmer's ...etc.  Really like Tamiya liquid.

I love the stuff, couldn't do without it. I threw my superglue in the trash, I hate the stuff. Gator Grip is the only thing I'll use on PE.

Thanks Mike on the Cab glue suggestion, I've never heard of it, I'm going to have to look for them next time I hit the home improvement store.

Can't help but wonder how Gator Glue might compare with Pacer's Formula 560 Canopy Glue? Anyone have a clue?

A couple months back, I went through various canopy glues to find one that would hold a two-half gunners turret together. The Formula 560 finally did the trick. Hadn't thought about trying it on my next PE project, so thanks for this thread, gents. Thanks to this thread and y'all, now have some options to try next time including the 560, Gator, and Mike's cabinet glue idea. Definitely wasn't happy with any of the adhesive solutions I tried on my former (and first) PE project.
