Thanks Subfixer! Now I'm thinking maybe the Jagdpanther after throwing the track slid off the road into a ditch getting good and stuck.

Maybe I could go with having them lose a track and have to surrender?
That would be plausible, considering that a Jagdpanther was limited to firing only in the direction the vehicle was pointing. But it could still spin around in circles with one track, so some kind of obstacle that prevents this might be necessary.
I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
Thanks guys!
Good point Steve and thanks for the video link Phil. Yeah intense stuff there, esp the poor Sherman commander with his leg blown off at the knee.
I've never showed anything like this, in-action as it were. I want to show the Germans abandoning their vehicle but not a total bloodbath. Maybe I could go with having them lose a track and have to surrender?
You might get some ideas from the footage of the Panther blowing up in Cologne. Various clips, like this one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBI9d0-IfEM show the crew evacuating while the tank burns. Beware, if you haven't seen it before, it's not pretty.
I would expect a penetration in the engine compartment to start a fire. It may not be prudent to evac over the back deck.

Guys, sometime in the indefinite future I'm looking to do a freshly knocked-out Jadgpanther with the crew evacuating the vehicle though the rear hatch while being covered by a squad of GIs.
I also intend to add a M18 Hellcat with the story that the M18 had used her speed to zip around the heavier German tank destroyer and shoot her in the rear engine compartment. I'm assuming this would destroy the engine and force the crew to abandon the vehicle?
Question though would the damage extend to the fighting compartment? I guessing the 76mm shell might penetrate though and even if it didn't being immobile the crew would have to get out right? Should I attempt to show maybe black smoke coming out of the air intakes? I could do this with cotton balls but not sure it wouldn't look hokey. Maybe show the escaping crew with soot on their faces?
Please I'm looking for any advice on how you would do this. Is the overall idea viable?
Thanks in advance!
