Bish As mentioned, it depends on what year the tank your building is from. If its 1942 and in Russia/Europe, then you want RAL 7021 Panzer Grey. You could use Tamiya XF 63 or Vallejo Model Air 56. Not sure what the Testors one would be.

Thanks guys, this was all very helpful.
I am most familiar with Testors as that is what I have available locally. I find They have catalog #2046 listed as "Panzer Schwarzgrau 39/43 RAL7021". Seems to fit the bill as my version seems to be headed for the eastern front in Russia.

I can understand the bulk of G production being in Dark Yellow, but the F2 came out in the summer of 42 when Dark Gray was the main color in use and Braun was painted on gear destined for Africa (although much of that stuff ended up in Russia instead). The switch over to Dark Yellow did not come until well after that time in early 1943.

Ignore the labels that DML is saying in the instructions. The bulk of Pz IV F2 and G were painted in a basecoat of dark yellow. You want the base coat to be RAL 7028 dunkelgelb (or dark yellow -- which in reality is a tan color) with optional camouflage colors of RAL 7008 dunkelgrun (dark green) and RAL 8012 rotbrun (red brown).
Modelmaster has Panzer Dunkelgelb '43 (SKU 2095) (which I would cut with some tan paint), rot brun (SKU 2052) and Panzer Olivgrun '43 (SKU 2097).

Yes, the kit you have is a Panzer 4. I dont recall anywhere that ive seen field gray used for the armor itself. Feldgrau was a uniform color. Depending on what year/unit you are portraying will denote what colors you will use. Up to 1943 Schwarzgrau (panzer grey) was the predominant color for almost all vehicles in Europe. In 1943 it was changed to dark yellow. Again though it depends on what subject unit you are modelling. Im not sure about the Testors line of paint that you are talking about as i havent used it.

In process: Hhhhmmmm decisions decisions
Feldgrau is actually green and was used for small pieces of equipment, not for camo, as far as I know.
Pic related, it's a Feldgrau scope.
I am mostly an airplane guy, but have moved over to a few small tanks as a diversion. The next kit I am contemplating starting is a Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.f2(G) (guess it's a Panzer 4?) made by Dragon and in considering possible markings/paint, some are calling for H32 in GS or 40 in Mr. Color. I wondered if there is an equivalent in the newer Testors MMII line of colors. I see there is a Field Grau RAL 6006 on the Testors web site, but I don't find it in either Sprue Brothers, Squadron, or even my LHS. I'm thinking this would be the color needed, and maybe it's a new color offering, and just not available everywhere yet? I hate to have to pay shipping for 1 bottle of paint.
I even wondered if there was a guide for using Testors MMII for armor.
