Looking for a British all terrain vehicle
Posted by jshane on Friday, August 16, 2013 12:00 AM

Hi, All

I vaguely remember reading an article on FineScaleModeler many years ago about an experimental all terrain (military) vehicle built in Britain. It was a review of a kit, but I can't recall the name of the vehicle.

I search on the internet, the only thing close is the 1/35 Alvis Stalwart  from Accurate Armour, but I am pretty certain this is not it because that model doesn't have a crane. It was some sort of an experiment vehicle or pre-production vehicle. I remember it was a very cool kit with some nice detailing piece, especially the engine. It was built during the cold war period.

I went through the cover images of the FSM from 2004 -> 2010 and could not locate that article.

Any members here recall reading that article?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here is a picture of the 1/35 Alvis Stalwart  from Accurate Armour, the one I am looking for is similar shape and size.

Could it have been a British Terrapin?

There is also a Terrapin in 1/35 from Resicast.

I am pretty certain it is not the Terrapin.

I start to think it could be a variant of the Alvis Stalwart?

I found these pictures of the stalwart, it has similar engine layout as I remembered from that article.

I finally found it, it was from June, 2009 issue of Military in Scale magazine.
