M4A1 Sherman with T1E3 Mineroller Pics
Posted by shermanfreak on Sunday, March 16, 2003 1:18 AM
Okay......now that I've finally figured out why I couldn't post pictures Big Smile [:D] I'll throw these out here for any comments.

This is DML's M4A1 Sherman with Verlinden's T1E3 Mineroller Conversion. I backdated the suspension to the early M3 style by taking them of of an old M3 Lee I had laying around. Weathering was achieved by drybrushing rust and steel. Ground pencil lead was used to give the metal surfaces some depth and earth tone pastels were used to dirty it up a bit. Hope you like the finished product.

VERY impressive, Robert! I didn't respond right away, as I was busy staring at your pics for about 10 minutes!

What's next, a Duplex Drive Sherman??

No D.D.'s on the work bench yet Fitter. Thank you for your kind comments. What I am working on is an M32 B3 recovery vehicle and an M4 Sherman Dozer. A couple extra others too but they're just time fillers right now.

Great lookin' Sherman, Robert. The finish on the cast surfaces and rollers is very impressive.
Quick dopey question: DML is Dragon, right? I vaguely remember DML back when I lived in the States (I built a DML B-2 /F-117 combo kit), but they weren't that common then.
If I can figure out how, I'll post my JSDF M4A3E8 for your scrutiny!

Brian...right on the money DML is Dragon....I'd luv to see your M4A3 E8...all you have to do to post is find somewhere to host your pics.....some sites will work here..others won't. I ran into that problem and ending up just building my own site this weekend to host my own pics. Check it out if you'd like.

I just checked out your sight. Great stuff! Fine modeling. Couldn't see the text, though. The background was too dark, but that could just be my computer. The pix were fine, though.
The EZ8 that pops up first surprised me! Thought that was a model!!! Little too shiny, though...
A host for the pix...I know next to nothing about this kind of stuff, but I'll figure it out and post!

Thanks for your comments on my little site...sorry you couldn't make out the text. I went and checked and it seemed to be ok from here anyway. Hosting sites are all over the internet..they are a site where you can upload your pics and then post them with a hotlink to a site like this. If you look in General Announcements, under posting pics there's a user by the name of Moses who will host pics for FSM users. Drop him a message and see if he can maybe help you with space.

Robert:

Just checked your site, those are some great Shermans. Some of the text was hard to see where the Green was darkest, maybe try grey text? Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Tom....the tracks are from Tamiya's M4. The DML track is the same pattern but are indy link. There were just too many things happening around the drive sprocket to get a good fit on this particular tank. The DML tracks are going on my next project......I think.

Robert, Great looking mine roller. I'm glad this post came back up, checked out your sight and found pics of your Kangaroo. I'm going to start mine with the group build, seeing yours was helpful.

Wow ... digging in the closet for this one weren't we.

Jon - Verlinden - yes ...... DML tracks - no, I used the DML tracks on my M32 B3

Latch - definite maybe

Muzzleflash - got to love the looks of some heavy metal

Bob - good to have you join us in the build.

Great looking stuff, Robert. This must be my favourite Sherman variant, after the Calliope.

awesome looking build sherm!!Cool [8D]Cool [8D]Cool [8D]
how did these things work in practice by the way? were the rollers at the front just impervious to any mines they encountered, or did they gradually have chunks taken out of them?
regards,
nick

The wheels did have to be replaced over time, but I'm not sure how a mine blast would have affected them.

Execellent work, Robert...
Those minerolling wheels look so realistic, that they would be heavy in 1/35 scale!

Very impressive, Sherm. Looks real to me. Seen that at your site previously but I still get the same impression.

I must admit though that for a while there I thought I was looking at a giant pizza slicer.LOL.
