Have to agree with you M1, that would have been an awsome site. Bet or sherman drivers would have sprung a leak in their underwear seeing that baby come around the bend.

I'm not sure what time period you are pertaining to. If it were WW II I'd say the German 88mm L71. Since your post said what was the best gun to be put on a tank, I'd say the Gustav didn't qualify.

I guess it would have to be that smoothbore 120mm on the Abrams. That would be the best gun put on a tank so far.

I believe that the U.S. was going use the 90mm's that were on the Pershing and retro fit some Shermans with them.
