Looking for a Armored Wrecker/Crane Kit
Posted by Plane-Builder on Monday, September 16, 2013 7:23 PM

Hello all, First post.

Getting back into modeling after a long absence (marriage, kids, etc) But now have a bit of time on my hands.

Anyway I remember back in my teens building a rather detailed kit of a armored wrecker or crane truck. I don't think it had tracks I am pretty sure it was a truck. I know for a fact that it was not this kitrm7816.htmit.

I remember the kit I did was much more modern. Probably Vietnam war era. Have looked on-line at pictures and numerous model kit sites and have had no luck.

Please help find this kit. Oh this was back in 1983 to 1986 or so.

Thanks Bryan

Given your time span, it was most likely the Revell reissue of the ancient Renwal 1/32 scale 5 ton wrecker. I built one around the same time. It was recently reissued by Revell this past year. The 1983-ish reissue had the kit pictured on top of a pile of dirt. It included a large wooden crate.

Thanks guys. I will have to go look for this kit sometime and really see if its the same one I remember. No shop around me has it.

Just seems to me that the truck was newer maybe 60's and the crane was double the size as this one.

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.

They are all over the place on eBay and the many online hobby shops for around $20-25. Here is a photo of the current box top which is a copy of the original artwork. Below it is the Revell 1983 reissue.

Thank You very much Rob. That is the kit. I think I prefer the 983 artwork. That's the main reason I did think it to be the same model. Will order one right away. Only Armor kit that I did ever but seams to  be stuck in my head.
