M41 and Panzer KampfwagenII
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 22, 2004 12:26 PM
Just picked up these two kits and wanted to know how they rate. Walker Bulldog 35055 and Panzer Kampfwagen II 35009 to be more specific, btw both are Tamiya.

Both are old and lacking in detail, but both are outstanding starter kits. You will notice on the underside of the tracks, there is no detail except for a token center guide tooth. The hulls have motoization holes on the sides and underneath as well. Compare the side of the M41 hull with the box art, you will see it is missing some detail as well.

But have fun building these kits!

As Major Rob has said, both are old but nice and simple kits.
There have been several threads about the M41 here at FSM. Run a search of the forums and check 'em out!

for the M41, if u can find a set of AFVclub individual tracks get'em, or AFVs rubber type which are much better than tamiya vynal tracks . should fit nicely. also, it's great for adding some additional detail

I recently finished the M41 and had a lot of fun with it. All i really did was fill in the motorization holes the next one (!) will have the missing details (strengthening ribs on stowage boxes etc.) added.

The December 2001 issue of Finescale Modeler has an article on detailing a Tamiya Panzer II kit. I think I ordered this issue of FSM from Squadron.

Panzer II is also the cheapest Tamiya tank kit. Can't go wrong with that.
