I would have never guessed PowerPoint could resize small enough without destroying the detail.  Those are quite remarkable.

What valuable tips!

I appreciate them and the offer.  I will take you up on that as well as post my progress.

Thanks a million!

No problem..

1. Mini-decals:  I made them myself.  I searched the web for warning and danger placards, etc.  Copy the image, paste into Powerpoint, resize, and print them out onto computer decal paper.  Once sealed, they can be applied just like any other water-slide decal.

2. Panel detail is all hand-painted.

3.  The lower basket is all made out of sheet styrene and a few left over bits from other kits (plastic and resin).  The floor is a piece of sheet styrene cut in a circle and then built up with other pieces of styrene.  The screen is bridal veil toole.  You can find it a at fabric stores.  A1/2 yard will last a lifetime.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Gino,

I got my kit and your pics will def be a guide, but I have a few questions.

1. Where did you get the mini decals?  They really make it awesome!

2. What about the panel detail.  Is that PE? Hand painted?

3. The old Dragon kit provides enough of a base but I see a lot of scratch build, which I'm excited to take a stab at it. Any tips on the turret basket,i.e. What's the basket screen made from, how'd u make the floor?, etc...

I really appreciate any input, links to resources, etc.

Gino,

thanks so much for telling me about the older dragon kit. I really do like the look of it much more than the Verlinden kit, after seeing yours built. Great job BTW!

I've already found the old kit on eBay for $15 +shipping. Great price over the kit. Ordered!

It isn't really worth the money. It isn't very accurate and doesn't look that good once fitted in the turret.  A better solution is to get one of the older Dragon Abrams kits that has a partial interior with the upper turret and driver's station parts.  If you don't want a whole kit, try the Buy, Sell, Trade Forums at Armorama or Missing Links.  I bet someone has an interior left over that they didn't use.

I used these on the three I have done complete interiors on.  Here is how it can look.  The light gray parts are the Dragon parts.

Painted.

The driver's area is all Dragon.

I am going to call Verlinden on Monday, but everywhere I have looked for this kit seems to be out of stock.  I hope it is not a discontinued item or out of production.

Does anyone know of a source with one of these kits available?
