Howitzer Motor Carriage M8 - in 1/72 scale?
Posted by rocker286 on Sunday, December 8, 2013 3:52 PM

I just finished reading Ernesto Urtiaga's excellent article in the current issue of FSM. The M8 is a neat looking vehicle, and i was wondering if anyone knew if the M8 was available in 1/72 scale? Thanks!

Thanks for liking my model and article.  As far as I know, the Tamiya model is it in any scale. AFV Club is supposed to come out with a better one in 1/35 but that has been the rumor for a couple of years.

Thanks for letting me know,  plastickjunkie! Looks like I'll be getting the Tamiya kit as soon as I save up enough $$$.

If you don't plan on adding an interior like mine, I suggest at least getting the Eduard pe sets to add more dimensional details and the missing rear blower boxes. Those pe screens look great and really dress up the rear. Who knows, maybe AFV will come out this year with one.

I definitely will pick up the PE sets, and I've been experimenting with using plastic card / sheet styrene with the current kit I'm working on. By the time I get around to making my own M8 Scott, I'll be a seasoned pro!

Mirage just released their 1/72 M5 Stuart and rumors that there is an M8 on the way. PSC makes one, but their stuff is designed for wargaming. Cpl Overby's Motor Pool does a conversion to make the M5 into the M8 as well.

Here is the one for the Plastic Soldier Company where the M8 is coming from. It is not there yet, you can keep checking. theplasticsoldiercompany.co.uk
