this is sort of a part 2,i dont know how to go back and edit a post, prolly just not seeing the obvious.

anyway,i need to "raise" or extend the hoops on my project, should i use styrene strip and warm it,then bend it over a jig and let cool?

id like to use brass strip if i can..but would be possible to find it the correct size?.....i have a very good model railroad shop about 20 miles away which carries that sort of thing, but i prefer to buy online.

any ideas? suggestions?.

I'd go with the brass strip and buy it at the shop, this way you are supporting your local hobby shop- even if it is model railroad.

I went with the hot water-formed styrene stock around a simple wooden jig when I did a tour-boat DUKW conversion, simply because I already had the correct size of strip on hand. I found it simple, effective, and very easy to work with.

Having said that, my DUKW was only 1/76 scale, and the hoops fairly small. Brass would certainly give greater strength and durability in a larger scale.

Well you're modeling and that the important part.

I would go with brass if you can or maybe fashion something out of soda or pet food can or ??, aluminium

( cut strip 2x wide folded in half for final size and strength)

Reminder or if you didn't know, the bows are rectangular in shape, not round and are about  ya by ya
