1st Tank Leopard 2 A5
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 7:45 PM
First of all I would like to thank Lizardqing. A good friend of 13+ years and great resource on this build. I have been into RC for a few years but never anything this cosmetic as this plastic. Looking forward to the model show at HobbyTown next month.

Plastic modelling is challenging and fun. A great hobby for me while on the road staying in a hotel room. It is also significantly cheaper than the RC cars/ trucks I am accustomed to. I really wanted to learn as much about tanks as possible after I saw the Tamiya 1/16 RC Tanks. Im looking forward to building one. First I will have to finish the two models I picked up while working on my Leopard. Then maybe another tank or two. Quite possibly the 1/35 RC Leopard that Tamiya just came out with.

In case anyone is interested. My next Leopard is going to be painted like a Leopard. I feel comfortable enough with airbrush to attempt it.

Here are a couple pictures I took along the way. Pictures were fun with my new Sony DSCV-1 5mp camera. Sorry for the plug, lol. Only problem is I had to resize my pictures because the quality was set to 5.0 MP on my camera. Pictures ended up being between 4 and 5 MB (yikes). So to accomodate those of you on dial-up. formatted pictures below.

During this build I learned alot about superglue. Really does stick to everything. I glued my fingers together on multiple occassions. I also learned a little about weathering, paint, washout etc. One thing I definately recomend is Barrel Depot gun barrels. No seem and they ad realistic weight to the tank.

Anyway long story short heres some pictures:

Oh BTW welcome to FSM and to the "darkside".

One suggestion. You may want to reduce the size of you pics. Others using dial-up may have a hard time viewing them (or loading them in their systems) and that would keep them from enjoying the pics.

You can say that again, took 10 minutes to open on this lousy dial up service! Those things are very large!!!Approve [^] But you did a nice job on the tank so keep up the good work!Bow [bow]
