I recently saw an auction on eBay for building Armor models (not just a specific one) You can either send the kit to this person or he will take one out of his own stock.

You tell him how much and what sort of detailing you want and it will get built. I don't know how much it is per model but, it's got to be a decent amount.

I was going to stay out of this, but the faint prospect of paying a few bills sounds nice... I may try it just to see if i can make some extra cash. Besides I really don't have anywhere to display finnished kits right now... My Panther is living in a garbage bag on top of the book case until I decide what to do with it...

I'm not really worried about someone taking one of my kits to a contest... and even if they did so many people on this and other sites have seen it, that someone is bound to pass by and say...hey I've seen that somewhere...!!! I am not advocating to build for money, but when things get a bit tight, we do what we must do... I have thought many times about selling my collection save a few since i build so slow anyway. I have a couple of thousand dollars worth of unbuilt kits and buying more all the time... I will never in my lifetime build all of these... I spent a little over 2 months on the last one and it was a marathon build for me...

Just my thoughts....take it for what its worth...

Just my 2cents, I build because I like to buildBig Smile [:D] Not for profit, I would never sell a model[:0] or buy one[:0]I just can't see the point. You know some of these people are buying them and taking them to shows and entering them in contest. I think it takes away from the hobby. Again just my 2centsBig Smile [:D]

some of these builders are a little quick to claim 'pro' status!
unless all that means is you once had a buyer for soemthing you built.

i have seen some w/ seams and gaps that would make a novice blush!

caveat emptor!

Wow, that's crazy! 1000 dollars for a prebuilt model. Man, that's just extreme. I can't believe people out there can afford to spend so much. How I wish I were one of those people :)
You should definitely try it out Ga.modler. who knows, you may end up getting a grand for it too ;)

With some of the stuff people buy off there, you might could get a great deal of cash for a build. Might be interesting to throw one on and see where it goes.

I have seen some very good models for sale on Ebay and some not so good so models for sale. The auction that stick in my mind was for a Tamiya King Tiger with some aftermarket parts painted in the ambush scheme that went for close to $1,000. It had close to two dozen bidders. This was a couple of years ago. If I could get that good, I would definitely sell built models on Ebay.
Erik "Don't fruit the beer." Newest model buys: More than I care to think about. It's time for a support group.
