Snap to there snap-together. The "Ma Duece" or any other weapon on the TC station is not normally fired from the exposed position, but rather remotely fired from within the vehicle.

Canada is also currently accepting deliveries of the LAV3, which is pretty close to a stryker. So far, i have seen ones with a 25mm cannon turret (like on the bradley), and our wheeled APC whose name escapes me at the time (it might be grizzly) has two variants; a turret with two 7.62 mm mgs or an open mounted M2.

I'd hate to be manning the "Ma Duece" on the Stryker! It is mounted way too high for my taste.

The US Army wanted something lighter, hence more rapidly deployable than a Bradley or an Abrams. Some of the modern foreign vehicles it "resembles" are the Russian BTR-80 and the German Luchs. By resembles, I mean has the big armored body on an 8-wheeled chassis.

Cool concept and neat looking vehicle, but if you remember the beating the Abrams and Bradleys were taking from RPGs and other man-portable anti-tank systems, it seems we may need to re-think the lighter is better concept.

aah, yes. I know what your talking about now.

I remember many years ago there was talk about 'disbanding' all the heavy amour units and replacing them with some lighter variant. It was said this was in light of the lessons learned from Somalia and The Mog and other Panama type conflicts, where rapid deployment and 'air mobility' was/is the key.

In my opinion I think the HMMWV is asked to do WAY too much. Case in point Mogadishu.

Anyways. That?s my $.02

Just talked with a fellow working on tests with the Stryker, there is a brigade at NTC at Ft. Irwin testing. I've heard the boys in them would rather be in a different desert with their new toy. All the test results I've heard so far have been very positive. It should be a very capable vehicle.

Thanks for the kit info.

Junior's out in left field looking for last year's lost ball ;)

No one has announced a new Stryker kit. Some of the experts have commented that making one from an Italeri or Esci LAV may be a bridge too far. There's about two brigades worth of them and they are all still "prototypes". Someone may make one once a production model arrives that has all the bugs worked out.
