clear dash panels ?
Posted by blackdog62 on Monday, March 10, 2014 9:16 PM
This may be simple but I'm wondering what the purpose of having a second dash panel in a aircraft kit is for and how would one use it ? I'm new back to the hobby and I don't remember clear one 25 years ago.

I never quite figured that one out either. Accurate Miniatures had one in their Avenger kits, but I painted it all black and picked out the details.

That's the kit I first came across them in. I'm thinking  something to do with seeing through the gages ?

The quality of the clear plastic isn't and better than the solid ones.

Its just a feature they provide in case you want to add depth to the gauges.  You would need to put something behind the clear part and mask off the glass from the front.  Its nat very hard to do and adds great effects to the IP.

Ok I think I get it. It would be adding your decals to backing plate. Then placing that behind the clear part. Then it just a mater of keeping the clear cages clean/masked ?
