Knocked right off the pedastel

Well so much for the feeling like I could tackle anything after finishing the Dragon Wagon. While giving the Marder some quite time to do some drying I thought I would open up another box and start applying some glue. So I opened up a nice simple little looking kit. Next thing I know this Kettenkraft about to be a ball of melted plastic thing had parts a flying, fingers sticking to everything and came close to being best of show in the Rubbermaid classic. Black Eye [B)]

Anybody else ever been humbled quickly by what you thought was going to be a nice quick little build, or is this just my luck?

I know what you're talking about. When I restarted modelling again I was suprised by how difficult it actually is to get some bits to go and stay where they belong! My tainted memory told me that building the things was the easy bit......

Im with you on that sometimes the simplest looking kits are the hardest to do the job just keeps growing

Thats when you know its time to take a break , i do this to work on my patience , sometimes my patience works on me ! I feel your pain my brother ! Give it a break for a bit , them small parts can drive you nuts for sure ! Black Eye [B)]

Hi! Yes I have had my share of models that I've wanted to throw against the basement wall. Per chance was this Kettenkraft made by Dragon? I'm asking because I've been waiting for the new one with the cable reels to come out (was announced for February). I won't get it if it's going to be a problem - don't need a model like that now with all the other stuff going on in my life. I've read that it has individual track links which must be pretty small pieces. I try to avoid the big link tracks where ever I can so the little ones would drive me NUTS!

Charlie- The one I am doing is the Tamiya kit. It don't have the indi tracks, actually the tracks are molded onto the roadwheels, which throws yet another challenge into the mix of painting them up. Same as the front tire , it is molded onto the front forks, making painting the tire a challenge. I think this one is going back on the shelf for a day I feel like really being challenged.

1) Go into my garage, look at my restoration project of my M7 snow tractor.
2) Open any of ten kit boxes in my basement and you'll find them half done.

That's what happened with the PAK 37 diorama I did. It started out as a weekend build with the intent of doing it as a stand alone. It ended up being the diorama. If you can work through it, you'll have jumped a huge hurdle and can take on just about anything and have a great feeling of accomplishment. On the other hand, if you can't... live by the mantra..."if not a great model then a pretty fire".

I've had that problem alright! Dead [xx(]

My current one is the Airfix Scammel Tank Transporter. Everytime I think I am ready to continue to paint and finish it, some other part of the wheels or suspension falls off. Angry [:(!]

I've been working on and off on this kit for more than a year now, and I usually don't do that. This kit is a serious challenge to my limited patience. It is back on the shelf again for the fifth time. Sad [:(]

Robert, what do you mean "during my modelling years."? [:0] That implies they are over! Aren't they still happening? I didn't think they ever ended! Clown [:o)]

I'm doing a Trumpeter 1/32 F105G Wild Weasel for someone and I thought it would be a little tricky. Yes I of all people am doing an aircraft for someone. Anyway it seemed it would be a little tricky but man is it harder than I thought. The modle isn't hard itslef, it's just the thing is so big I keep damaging it and every time I do damage control and repair it another thing got damaged in the process. It's a never ending cycle guys. Be prepared if you are thinking about this one!
