As Roy stated, it is best to match your model's features to photos of actual vehicles, although finding adequate references isn't always an easy task, which is why collecting books on your subjects becomes as much of a hobby as building the models themselves. Geeked

Tiger #724, a former 1st Co / sPzAbt. 501 machine, later re-assigned to the 7th Co / PzReg 7 / 10th PzDiv., is the only Tiger of the N African theater (I'm assuming this is your intended arena) I've seen sporting "kill rings", (6 of them). It was not as common practice as folks would think.

Here is a great site with lots of info and photos, this page in particular on sPzAbt 501 vehicles in Tunisia;

There's "accurate" and then there's crazy "accurate".  I'm going to assume you mean the former and not the absolutely nutso level of accuracy.

One of the things about Tiger Is is that they were photographed plenty.  Thus changes in their features are generally readily identifiable.  Plus their own production records survived.  Have a look at this summary:

missing-lynx.com/.../pftiger.htm

1. Your model would require the track cable on the hull side.

2. The white stripes were mostly a propaganda thing.  YOu should really try to match your final model subject to a known and photographed tank.  Victory stripes ususally meant summary execution for captured crews -- a single Russian bullet...  They existed but very sparingly.

3. tracks on turret -- begin April 43.  Look at other features if you wish to model this. Again, I point you to matching your tank w/actual photos.

I'm on the latter stages of a build and cant seem to find the molded cables that mount to the sides. The box art omits them but the instructions labels them on the F sprue, but theyre not there. Maybe I clipped them and set them aside. Or maybe they never came with the kit. Does anyone know? I guess I could make my own with wire or glued thread. Also, I'm thinking of adding a set of white stripes (weathered) at the end of the barrel; is this at all accurate or way off? And, what about mounting the replacement tread links to the side of the turret...accurate, both sides, one side? Reference pics on the web are all over the place. Thx for any pointers.
