I've noticed Academy/MRC has nice looking kits for an awfully good price. What is the quality of these kits? I'm tempted to try one.

I just completed their m10, and it was a very nice kit. fit together really well, and had good detail.

I think that most of the kits are real good alot of extra detail parts and good molding. I really like them with a fixed income like I've got-------------Stephen

careful of their tiger in 1/35...turret the wrong shape...

Someone asked this same question not too long ago. I haven't built much from Academy, but I've heard that their new kits are really quite good. The ones that I did build are great. Flash-free, and fit was excellent. Strongly reccomended. Lots of extras in the box too!

I built the Stuat Honey not to long ago. Very nice build, choice of indi or rubber tracks and a decent interior. That would be the only one that I have done from Academy though.

I made the IDF M60 Mine roller-lotsa extras, chains, figures, ammo belts. Made a nice kit at a very good price.

im building it and its the only one ive build from academy too and its very nice

I have built the Tiger I full interior and M-18 Hellcat.. Both are very nice for the price.. And make a very good model..

I built Academy M1A1 and M-51. While the M1A1 is a good and easy to build kit, it is not at par with the M1s from Italeri, Tamiya, Dragon and Trumpeter. The M-51 however was very good with lots of details and extras.

Recent offerings from Academy are good ones.

The older Academy kits are rehashes of even older Tamiya kits. The newer stuff, generally is much better. I have their Achilles (still building it), Staurt Honey and Warrior. Apart from a few accuracy problems with the interiors of the first two (the interiors are just the American M10 and Staurt and not right for the British versions) they are not bad.

I have the Hellcat and it looks nice , but I haven't built it yet. Looks easy enough. i wish it had the one -piece barrel that AFV offers.

I've got an academy Flakpanzer Wirbelwind waiting to be built. It is very much an old Tamiya kit, but that doesn't bother me. I think it will build into a good model, with a little work. I too would like to know about their own, newer kits, as they are really good value here in Australia, too.

Their Merkava II boxed with and without the mine plow are excellent kits. They (Academy) are the only kits I know that come with rubber road wheels. Some find them to be problematic, but I've had good success with them. The Warrior is superb with LOTS of detail right out of the box. I don't have the Stuart variants, but I understand they are really nice as well, as is the Hellcat.

I am currently building the Academy M-36 Jackson. The kit is nicely detailed and going together nicely. There is a bit of flash here and there but nothing major.

All-in-all, very nice!

Hi! I just started building the new M10 Duckbill and it's really nice! Lots of extra detail - even separate bolt heads. I'm sure I'll get some flying off my tweezers onto the floor. They give you 2 different choices of roadwheels and a nicely detailed engine with the walls for the engine compartment - hatches can be left open or closed and have detail on both sides. So far it has gone together well and haven't encountered any problems with the suspension and the driver's compartment. The driver's compartment has some nice details and I'm thinking of keeping the hatch open.

I have the full interior Early Tiger I model. The interior is supposed to be inaccurate, but if your not a bolt counter, it makes little difference and it looks nice when done, judging by the pictures. The instructions seem clear and there is a lot of painting info. As for the shape of the turret, it may well be wrong, but so is about every other Tiger on the market.

I'd recomend their newer stuff. The prices are pretty good for all the extras you get, and many have a choice of "rubber band" or indy tracks.

The Stuart kits are nice and they are a hoot to build, even if you want to detail them, a little. I have the M-60A1 kit and it looks good, as well. I saw the M-36 kit and it looks very nice. You get a lot of bang for the buck and a lot of fun, to boot! Whatever kit you choose, enjoy it. Best regards, Dave
