Can anyone point my into the direction of a good book about Walther Wencks 12th army attempting to hold the elbe against the soviets while allowing civillians to escape. Would this be considered part of the  Halbe pocket also ive seen some books on th eHalbe pocket and know there is some correlation between the two, but not entirely sure.

Try Cornelius Ryan's "The Last Battle", an overview of the Battle of Berlin. It is written in the same style as his other masterpieces "The Longest Day", and "A Bridge Too Far". While it does not focus on any particular portion of the battle, it does touch upon Wencks fight. And it is simply a great book to read, as are his other WWII works.

Maybe one or more of these, all by Tony Le Tissier

With our Backs to Berlin

Slaughter at Halbe

Death Was Our Companion

I read them years ago, and don't remember how much detail there is, but all three have index entries for Wenck.
