Blackhawk Down Humvee Question
Posted by hello_dolly on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 8:31 AM

Good day, Just want to inquire what are the humvees used in the movie Blackhawk Down? I have a M1025 by Academy and it's way too old appearing so I thought maybe I can build it as a Gothic Serpent humvee. I searched around and found a topic about this but it lacks information that I need (most of the photos are no longer showing and the site references no longer active).

Also, are the humvees painted one tone sand or 3 tone nato camo? Many thanks! : )

The movie was pretty accurate.  On the actual mission, OPERATION GOTHIC SERPENT by 160th SOAR and the Rangers, the HMMWVs were standard M1025s.  There were some in sand, but most were NATO camo.  Here are a few period pics.

Wow! Nice! Many thanks! The first photo is a big big help. I love 3 tone camo paint and I no longer have to worry about the .50 cal shield. Academy's M1025 doesn't come with a shield and I thought it's an error. Looks like I can build this kit out of the box for Somalia setup. Woohoo! Thanks again! : )
