                        I'm sort of nearly done with it (based on Panzer iii) and the side "running boards" don't seem to connect to the body in any place other than the three little pins, seems very flimsy.

                        For those that have built it, can you offer any advice on how to connect the 'boards?

                        There is a "lip" around the upper hull that the fenders mount to the bottom of.  The holes that I think you are seeing as the fender supports should go into should in fact be filled in.  These are left over from other versions of the Pz III that the lower hull is used for.
