A few months ago, a very kind soul gave me a Tamiya T-34 for free. I thought about how I wanted to build it, and what I wanted to do with it. Initially I wanted to build it as a captured one and used by the Germans. Then I wanted to have the Russians capture it back and populate it with a female tanker crew. Couldn't find the side skirts for the capture part, and couldn't find a female tanker crew for the re-capture part.
So in the end, I build it out of the box, with a winter camo. It was supposed to be a weekend build (after all, the kit isn't that difficult) but this was many weekends and ago, and I'm still working on it.
Right, enough drivel, here's the pics:

I have done a few of those Tamiya T-34s as weekend builds. They came out ok. But as you show here, they can look really good if you slow down a bit... Very nicely done!

Thank you kindly. I painted the tank white with some 0.50$ water-based paints from Walmart (has a nice texture when airbrushed) then took a sponge and dappled the green overtop. I do feel that turned out well. Then laid down oil wash, pin wash, etc.

Turned out well? I was convinced you used the hairspray technique and that the white was on top of the green. That was perfectly executed.
Honestly, I think it turned out really GREAT.
But curiously, how did you go about spraying those thick 50 cent craft paints from Wal-Mart?
Could it be as simple as high dilution with distilled water, a dash of dish detergent and the correct air pressure?
FSM did a detailed description a while back with an article about thinning those cheap craft paints and adding hardeners and extenders to enable spraying with an airbrush.
Really nice work, I wouldn't worry about taking more than a weekend- the results are worth it!

That's looking cool. I'd really opt for AM tracks, but do what you need to do.

Thank you kindly for the kind words. As far as the 0.50$ paint, I bought it from WalMart (ugh, that place makes my skin crawl when I go in, but the gf needed something there and I passed by these paints) and mixed it my usual way, about 1/3 water, 2/3 paint. Stuck it in my cheap (Badger airbrush Model 100) and connected to my translucent blue testors air-compressor, the kind that isn't adjustable. Came out of the airbrush just fine...
Let it dry for a day or so, it had a neat texture on it (the uncut paint is like a sludge) just perfect for winter camo, then the sponge technique and there we go!
Some AM tracks would be great, since the ones that came with it are horribly bent.
Any suggestions as to which ones to get?
In injection plastic AFV Club makes some that are affordable... Maquette makes some that are very inexpensive (if you can find them) but need a lot of pin mark clean up... Or there are several types of resin or metal ones from the usual suspects...
