I bit the bullet and now am now the owner of a Conqueror.  So far, the only rumblings on the Internet that I am aware of are the sizes of the mantlet and the turret bustle rack.  Since I have absolutely no references on this tank, I will try to keep it free of any corrective work.  Famous last words, but I really, really mean it this time!

Okay, I lied.  Embarrassed  I'll wait until Friul comes out with some metal tracks to replace the DS tracks in the kit.  I have read that this material can deteriorate if painted with solvent based paints.  Vinyl is a totally inappropriate material for model kits, so I wish the manufacturers would stop using it.  That means I will have to replace the mantlet cover as well, as it is also molded from DS material.  Too bad, as the detail looks very good.

The only other thing that caught my attention going through the instructions is that the driver's periscope is molded from solid plastic, whereas all the other vision blocks and headlights are in clear.  WTF Dragon?  Others have mentioned the solid small tie-downs, but that's normal in most kits.

Here is a comparison to a Churchill.  The Conqueror is a big tank.  I noticed on the box art that the bridge weight yellow dot thingy has "80" on it.  Wow, that's heavier than an M1!

Anyway, I have some front burner projects to attend to at the moment, but hope to get on this one soon!

I think Amusing Hobby has also announced a Conqueror.  Not sure of the version though.  I got to see a real one at the Tank Museum in Bovington, and it's a beast!

Thanks to the latest kit releases, my armor wish list is rapidly diminishing.  I just have the K-Wagen, A4 missile w/ Meillerwagen, and SA-4 Ganef left.  I am a little surprised no one has attempted to kit a plastic Sherman Crab flail tank.  That would be cool too.

I want one badly but I'm going to try to hold off till I can get a better deal. As you say hopefully some reviews will be out soon.

Has anyone mentioned that Sprue Brothers has the DML "Black :Label" Conqueror  in stock?

http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/dml3555.htm

With the announcement of two T-10 kits, the trio of cold war heavies will be complete.

I have not read any internet poop on the kit yet, so as they say, inquiring minds want to know.  Especially as it is the Mk2 version, the one I wanted.  Does DML continue their bad Black Label streak, or is this kit worth getting?  I held off the M103A2 because of all the bad press it got.
