Gothic Serpent HUMVEE

Welcome to the forum Trigger74. I'm still learning about hummer variants myself but I do know this. You will have to opt for the "old style" mirrors which mount on the fender. I beleive the Hummers there were mostly 3 tone woodland. I'm sure Rob G. will see this topic and post more precise info. That's where I get mine from. But basic info common to most all hummers is that the frame is black and the fuel tank is an opaque white looking plastic.

I am pretty certain that the Hummers that were used in Somalia were inded 3 tone woodland.

If you have the book Blackhawk Down, there are a few pictures of Task Force Ranger posing in front of several of there single tone desert hummvee's. I'd look it up for you right now, but am now where near my book or the pictures of a good friend that was there.

They did have a hodge podge of vehicles in different schemes at one time or another. But what they had on that fatefull day I do not know. More than likely, they were the only 2 painted in a desert scheme and hence why they were in the picture.

Nice to see that somebody is doing the good ol HMMWV..!! Its funny I have a ton of reference pix and actual pix of Hummers that were used in Kosovo. Go figure..LOL
As for the paint scheme, I would say it could be either the Nato scheme but then again they could have also used the desert colour. I guess it all depends on what time frame it took place in. Again on this particular subject, I may be wrong too. Paint scheme that is.
Like targetdriver mentioned, on that fateful day, I am not sure what they used. As for reference pix, I have very little to none on the Hummers in this theater.

Has for the placement of the mirrors, they are basically mounted from the firewall as you might say. This pertains to the older style mirrors. As for the newer mirrors, they are mounted from the bodies frame(which kinda makes up the windows frame work).
As to the "fender" that you are reffereing to, I may also be misinterrupted it as well.

I found on http://pro.corbis.com/ pix of USMC HUMVEEs from the initial landing and escorting food convoys and they were all tan (but they had the old style mirrors, so that's a start!)

Targetdriver, I FINALLY found my copy of BHD and the pix in it show a mix of colors, but most looked to be the 3-Tone. Thanks to you, MartianGundamModeler (where in TN are you?), Butz, Moose15 and everyone for their feedback. I was afriad if I finished my M1025 in 3-tone, that it would only be "movie-accurate" and not historiclly accurate.
