Funny Truck for the British Guy
Posted by beav on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 6:54 PM
I was hemming and hawwing over which kit i should get in the lhs the other day, and since I needed company, I grabbed a little Tamiya Scout Car Mark II.
I ended up getting that and an M1A1 with the Mine Plow, also from Tamiya.
But back to my funny little truck.
It is the weirdest little thing-I just noticed, since it is sitting in front of me, it is about the size of my computers mouse(*1/35 scale is how big the truck is)
and it fits neatly into my hand.
It was a funny little build, as construction goes-I have to paint it next.
The instructions are fine if you make sure you do everything-otherwise I had to pull fenders off earlier today.
It took less than 4 hours to put it together-more like 2, and it comes with three figures(Driver, Commander, Infantryman)
sorry any body who might be offended at this next part--
It's interior-although sparse has the driver on the WRONG side of the car-the right side! and the drivers seat is angled INWARDS towards the center line!
It is kindof weird, but oh well
it will be a fun addition to my dio with the M1 I got
I suggest this if you are looking for somthing out of the ordinary-
besides it is really ugly! But pretty to me because it is an oddball.
I liked it.
have fun!

Oh ok Jon, whatever you say jon
but for a driver from Minneeeeeesoooootah, driving on the wrong side stretches it a little to far. But whaterver you think about the "right" side of the car, lets not turn this into a right and wrong side of the car "chat".
But you have to admit driving while sitting at an odd angle is weird.
any ways
you might like what I am gonna do with it.
The figs are all looking at something in the distance-that somthing is going to be an M1A1 abrams MBT from tamiya. I don't know what the name at the base of the dio will be, but it will be interesting to finish.

Sounds like you're talking about the Daimler. It's pretty small and as it's British built the driver does belong on the right/starboard side. In the mid-80's our sister unit was the Royal Scotts Dragoon Guards and the Regimental Sargeant Major was buzzing around in a Daimler. I don't know if it was a MK II, one would think it was a newer model though.

This thing is so weird-
I am glad I bought it though, it is quite a funny addition-I don't believe any body would like to drive into an ambush(thats what it was designed for)
and come out alive...

Beav

It was designed to find the enemy and keep an eye on it. Last thing anyone in one of these wanted to do was end up in a firefight. The limited armour was to protect the crew from rifle fire while they were bugging out!

Oh and by the way, the right side is also the RIGHT side over here!Big Smile [:D]

You think that seating arrangement is weird, then explain why Land Rover decided to put their seats so far to the sides you have to open the window for more room..

It's a nice little kit. I got one a little while ago for my friend to build. He really enjoyed it.

Yeah, I don't mind the little bugger. But the right is the wrong side(over here anyway) I think I want a Universal Carrier to go along with it, as both are kindof weird little afv's.

the canadian version call edthe lynx also has the driver sitting on the right (we sit on the left). I am thinking about getting one of these, and a universial carrier for my diorama.

Hey there is nothing wrong with sitting on the right. After all you sit on the left and drive on the wrong side of the road. LOL.

Keep well.
