My son has gone through five or six bottle of Vallejo "brown violet" in the past three months working on his 'Flames of War' miniatures. In that system, the color is used as kind of a generic shade of OD to be used on helmets, tanks, or whatever else you have where the items were crafted of metal. It works fine for 15mm scale, but I have noted that the finish depends a lot on the undercoat. With miniatures that small, a lot of work is done with black primer to lend shadows and breakpoints in the paint. The resulting color is expectedly dark, but the violet end of things gets emphasized at times. A grey primer coat also shifts the paint a touch to the cool side and white seems to bring out the brown. In the end, it'd nice paint, but it's still paint. If you don't like the shade out of the bottle, mix in other colors such as khakis and tans and play with it until you hit a mix that catches your eye.
