ODS LVTP7A1

I needed the lower hull sides and suspension from this kit and could not simply throw away the remains so I planted it in a setting where suspension was not needed.  This is Dragon’s original release with the metal upper hull, which is ridiculous to me.  It made attempts at modifying the hull to fit E.T. Model’s PE frustrating.

The setting depicts an LVTP7A1 from Feb ’91 when the Marine Corps conducted an amphibious feint that tied down six Iraqi divisions from fear of an amphibious assault.

Neat little vignette Yes Yes, the Amphibious diversion kept the Iraqis looking over their left shoulder to the Gulf and made them forget about their right flank in the open desert...

Very cool, I love the camo on the LVTP and the churned-up frothing water looks fantastic!

Thanks for the kind words.  Now it is time to move on to the kit that needed the lower suspension.  I am taking the AAVR7A1, which is horribly inaccurate and reworking it as an AAVC7A1.  The plan is to have the hull in the standard NATO three-color camouflage but put tan EAAK.  That was how the AAV’s at Camp Fuji were dressed in the early to mid ‘90’s.  I have not yet decided which radio suite to represent, the older RT246/524 equipped or the SINCARS equipped.  It boils down to how I want the antenna forest to look like but I have time before I have to commit to one or the other.  I’m not in the mood to torture myself with an interior so that makes life a tad easier.
