Posted by plasticmechanic on Friday, March 12, 2004 12:24 PM
Do any of the major companys offer the Abrams M1A1 in 1/25 scale ?

I have the Tamiya Russian T34 , Academy Panther ,and the Jagdpanther ,and I'm very impressed with the size of these tanks, however I feel that I need to add an Abrams to my collection , any info on this would be greatly apprieciated ,
thank you,
Ray

Welcome to FSM!
The only Abrams close to that scale is Tokyo Marui's R/C 1/24 M1A2.
Looks good, too.
Do a search for Bobby Wong's M1A2 here in the armor forums to see what a little detail and painting can turn it into.

Jim Shirley Productions did a 1/25 scale full resin kit. The JSP M1A1 pulls in 3 figures on eBay.

Never heard of that one, Rob. What's your opinion of it? Worth multiple Franklins?

Sounds bloomin' heavy to me.. I can just imagine the postman going into hospital with a hernia trying to deliver it. Almost as bad as the Panzer III track link someone had delivered recently.

Never seen it myself. I do recall it being advertised in model magazines circa 1990. I did a quick google search about it: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=41j6gt%24s1q%40newsbf02.news.aol.com

Cookie says it was $500, I doubt I would have paid over $200 for a 1/25 scale Abrams, regardless of manufacturer or material.

Thanks for the link, Rob.
Yeah, don't think I'd go for that either, considering that kind of cash would almost get you into a beautiful 1/16 R/C tank from Tamiya (granted, not an M1, yet!).

My webpage for the Tokyo Marui Abrams 1/24 scale is here:

Also Franklin Mint makes a 1/24 scale diecast M1A1 Abrams. It's nicely detailed including engine and minimal interior. Try a Google or Ebay search.
