For a minute I thought you meant a retile type Alligator lol.
I would do the dry brushing as a first step, as soon as the decals are on. Washes will darken the finish, so if you think its to dark now, you might want to go over it with a lighter shade. Some might suggest modulation, but I am not a fan of that, it really depends if you want an artistic or realistic finish.
As for which washes and filters, I will leave that to those more experienced in OD.
