Alligator Color
Posted by Leddy on Friday, September 18, 2015 5:11 AM

I am building an Italeri Alligator and have grey primed and base coated wth Tamiya Olive Drab.  It looks dark and needs to have some lightening and weathering. I am ready to do more finish work. I have access to Mig washes and Mig filters.

What sequence should I follow to finish and weather this amphibious vehicle?  Can you recommend washes or filter colors?  When does dry brushing come in this finishing sequence?  Thanks for your input on this basic question!

For a minute I thought you meant a retile type Alligator lol. I would do the dry brushing as a first step, as soon as the decals are on. Washes will darken the finish, so if you think its to dark now, you might want to go over it with a lighter shade. Some might suggest modulation, but I am not a fan of that, it really depends if you want an artistic or realistic finish. As for which washes and filters, I will leave that to those more experienced in OD.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
