Desert Storm Bradley build
Posted by Elevenbravo87 on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 2:52 PM

I built the Tamiya M2 kit as my Bradley C-33 "Lethal Tendencies" during the ground war, for the 25th anniversity of Desert Storm. I still have to scratchbuild some playwood overhead cover and find some camo netting and other other odds and ends for external stowage. Tried to paint the "Chocolate Chip" camo on the ruck covers and helmets, turned out fair, but looks ok after weathering. I scratchbuillt the LBE harness using lead foil, and added a strap with the same to the pro masks...didnt do slings as the interior will rarely be on display. Weathered with Tamiya weathering pastels, and Model Master Detail stain for the spills. The background in the pictures is a picture of Jalibah airfield while we (Task Force 3-15, I was in C co. 3-15 Inf. 24th ID) was attacking it on 2-27-91...we had to pull off the airfield due to Iraqi arty fire and I took a moment to take a pic. I have a rough idea for a diorama using the M2 and this picture so its a mock up of whats to come.

It came out nicely.  Good job on it.  I like the name and face on the right rear hull side.

That's beautiful!!!

If you added a little dirt to the ground in the first photo I'd swear I was looking at the real thing!

Thanks.

HeavyArty the name turned out alot better on the model than it was in real life...I could not find a decent skull and and crossbones, so I had to improvise. I also like the way it turned out.

Pic of name...done with sharpie type markers...lol.

Your attempt at the cammo on the ruck covers is well achieved! Overall a great build and finish. The tone of the color looks almost perfect.  :)
