Hey Dwight,

I pity the driver...the tank park sarge will chew him out for bringing home a dirty beast...

Real awesome -- doesn't look like it took 3 days, more like 3 years! You're real good, man. Ganda ng tangke mo! Looks like you didn't have a problem with any warpage on the upper hull. My kit is still in the box, nabwisit ako with the mating of the upper and lower hulls, plus the top run of the tracks interfered with the fit -- that's why it's stowed away until I get back in the mood.

Do you take your own photos, even the cyclorama shots?

Spector: Thanks. Actually there are also lots of references on the web where I got my inspiration. One is the Tamiya site where their new M1A2 is shown. That's basically where I got the idea of the weathering.

Artorius: Thanks. I like the olifant pic on your sig. Looks mean.

Sherman Firefly: Sorry about that. Should have known better.Big Smile [:D]

Thundergod: Thanks. There are a lot of weathering and wash topics around here. Just do a search or visit the painting or techniques fora.

MGM: I heard it is indeed among the most accurate M1s out there. I may try it later.

Panzer Striker: Thanks. Well as I have said. Sometimes if we focus ourselves in doing something we might just get it done.

Thanks guys.Smile [:)]

Neudog: Well sometimes if we put ourselves on attaining a certain goal, we will be surprised with what we can do. Thanks.

MGM: Thanks. I saw that Trumpeter kit and it looks cool. I am now saving for the Tamiya M1A2. It looks like a great kit too without the non-slip surfaces.

Thanks again to your kind words, guys.Wink [;)]

I'm surprised no else bid on it. i'm glad too! The Trump is one of the most accurate M1's from what I here. I just gotta get the Tamiya modern wepons set! I printed off the "tweaks" from armorama, most of which I consider too "nick picky" but there are a few I'm going to use.

Welcome Thunder God! If you do a search there are a few threads around here on weathering. That's how I learned.

Beautiful peice of work Dwight! I have much to aspire to in the coming build! But look out, I just won a second Abrams on e-bay last night! A Trump M1A2 to be exact. So hopefully by the end of this build I'll have two completed!Big Smile [:D]

erush: Thanks. Don't worry I have no actual plans of cleaning her.Big Smile [:D]

build: Sorry for the misleading title. He-he-he. Thanks.

latch: He-he-he. Don't worry I won't tell anyone. Thanks.

beav: The antenna is made of stretched sprue. The bulb shaped tip is done using a drop of glue. The base is made to look like some wound spring by winding a line of thread around it. The color is gun metal with a wash of thinned black. The guy wire usd to hold the antenna down is just ordinary thread. I am a "thread"head you know.

I agree with you. I was quite surprised why this kit didn't come with many markings aside from the small unit numbers. Anyway thanks.

kaleu: Thanks. The kit included only unit numbers but I did't use them. I handwritten the numbers with a drafting pen. Yes dirty is goo.Big Smile [:D].

LQ2/Tigerman: Thanks for the compliments. It feels good to know that working more than 24 hous on a piece of plastic is worth the time.

Duke: Thanks but I can be as fast as you. You are a factory!!!Big Smile [:D]

Michael:Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Cmon and get that Tiger started. He-he-he.

jimq: Yes this is really a break for me.Big Smile [:D]. My shipbuild is getting nowhere so I have to get this done to get me back on the groove. Thanks.

ed: Thanks for the suggestion.Big Smile [:D]. Very tempting.....Evil [}:)]Wink [;)]

beans: Thanks pare. Glad you like this one, too.

J-hulk: OK not totally over the weekend.Wink [;)] I started Friday night. Let me recall...4+ hrs Friday/12+ hrs Saturday/ 9+hrs Sunday....Funny thing I dosed off at the office yesterday. Big Smile [:D] Luckily nobody noticed. He-he-he. Forgive me for cheating a bit. He-he-he/Wink [;)]

zok/jkeller/alex/erock: Thanks for the heartwarming words. This is not perfect work I can say. Actually a bit rough on the buid and the finish but you know sometimes when you have the urge...you just have to heed the darkside.Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D]

Sherm: I know your love for grime will lead you here.Big Smile [:D] Thanks Sherm. Now I finally say sometimes dirty is soo good. Wink [;)] Evil [}:)]

Heavy Arty: Thanks for the tips. Actually Brian (swerdna) also pointed out the same things in my post in the M1 Abrams GB. Good thing the spare road wheel is not glued and the handles can be easily repainted. Thanks again for the good tips. You are right. I saw the the thing about putting the road wheel there in some pictures of models in the net. Now I can correct it.

Thanks for the compliments and suggestions..everybody.

Dwight, Looks great. Couple things though. Handgrips on crew-served weapons up top should be black, they are black plastic on the real weapons, look brown like wood in the photos. Also, the spare road wheel needs to come off the crosswind sensor. This is a rather delicate piece of equipment and vital in having the round go true. Heavy road wheel would never be placed around it, it would tear it off. I see this all the time on models, not sure where the practice started, but it is incorrect.
