Pics from the workbench
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 15, 2004 4:56 AM
Hi all... I am currently on spring break, and in the last couple of days, I have managed to finish up a couple models. (an Italeri LVT and the Tamiya T34/85 from my weekend group build) I have also started to gain momentum on my M10 for the Sherman group build, but those MK indy tracks are still bogging me down. Here are some pics of what I have been doing, hope you all enjoy:

Oh yah, as always, I would love to hear all your suggestions, comments and criticisms. Also, check out more pics on my site if you are interested.

Wicked builds. I really like the t-34. Mine's still waiting to be built.
I'm wondering the same thing as wildwilliam, do you pre shade or post? With airbrush, pastel? Wouldn't mind having some detail as to how you accomplished the effect that you have...
How did you finish the tracks on the t-34 and the LVT?
Either way, they look absolutely gorgeous.

Ed/Zokissima - I post shade.

Panzer Striker - The tracks for the M10 are still being built, and will have to be painted separately, then added to the kit.

Zokissima
As far as painting the tracks go… I started both the LVT, and the T 34 with a coat of Tamiya Red Brown. After a couple hours drying time, a wash of paint thinner and artist oils was applied. The wash was mixed to an orange brown to simulate rust in the cracks and crevices of the track. After a day or so drying time, I applied a coat of Polly’s flat finish. After about an hour of letting that dry, the tracks were finished off with a liberal drybrush of Tamiya chrome silver.

I have tried several different methods of doing track, and this one seems to work the best for me.

Painting... I have described the painting on the T34 build page of my website. Feel free to check it out, here is the link: http://home.comcast.net/~williamehler/t34_85_build.htm Let me know if you have any questions that were not answered on the website. I will do my best to get a reply to you ASAP.

All - Thanks for the kind words everyone, hope you all enjoyed the pics.

Edog,

Those are definitely great looking models. I like the way you weathered them. Just perfect.

Edog... Excellent! I hear you about the indy tracks... they can be a drag. I'm a bit bogged on my Sherman also, but it'll all come together in the end, right?

Look terrific as always, Eric. I especially like the white wash and paint chipping on the M10. Cool stuff.

Only thing I noticed is what looks like a break in the link run over the 2nd road wheel on the T34. (This is really nit-picking), but I couldn't see anything else!

Great job.
