Panzertriebwagen 16 question
Posted by Jumo213A1 on Saturday, January 30, 2016 5:37 AM

Hi there, I´ve just recieved my Trumpeter´s 1:35 Panzertriebwagen 16...

It seems to be a nice kit, not too much parts or detail as the whole thing is armored so most of the loco´s parts are hidden anyway.

I have Waldemar Trojkas Panzerzug Teil 2 which shows several drawings of this one having 4 AA Mg34 installed on it. Dating it to 01.05.1945.

Are there any real pictures of this configuration or reports of it in use?

I´m not a what if builder so I would like to know if it´s just Trojkas fantasy or operational fact.

Thx

Mention Trojka and the clouds of suspicion start to darken....Storm

Just to be clear, does he show the MG34s as a single quad mount? I have a few books on German armored trains, but I don't see any photos of this configuration, although I have only a few photos of this type of train. Most other trains show a dual mounted MG34 for AA defense as being common.

A quad mount isn't that odd, but I understand your desire to find actual proof of it's use on this particular train.

I recently found this photo of a Hungarian commander with 10 Broom-Handle Mausers mounted for AA defense. Surprise I'd like to see him trying to reload this awkward arrangement. Tongue Tied
