Looks great to me Wayne. I think the weathering turned out really well, and neat looking base too.

DONE. i added some gray and brown pastels to the road wheels and edge of skirts. the top was scrubbed with light gray pastel which toned down the starkness of the pin wash. added some exhaust and some rust on the external fuel drums for some color. the gray pastel is very subtle.
think i will try a Trumpter S-tank in a winter camo for something easy/ OR the Tiger AMX-10RCR.

Gamera She looks good Wayne. I suppose you could buy a set of aftermarket tracks but I'm assuming since you got the kit cheap you're not interested in spending more money on her.

doesn't get more cheap than free with the purchase of another model. this was suppose to be a quick throw together afyet the 1/72 SCUD and it "evolved." i looked at AM tracks and a gun barrel but you're right. may put a TC in it.
i tried black wash and didn't like it. this is actually raw umber.
got the holes filled for the lost front slope tow cable, external fuel drums on and added the plumbing and some fuel spill oil washes and the side skirts. ready to start the base and the powder/pastel weathering. i REALLY like the way the oil washes worked; good 00 and 000 brushes, q tips and 4 hours of patience. very relaxing. had Russian Symphonies in the background.
while i have been overspraying the top surfaces with a slightly lighter bas color i didn't this time. i have used a white oil filter and that can work too or scrub in some light gray pastel.
Ouch
Those tracks...yep, some dust/mud will cover anything..hehe...thats the nice thing about armor
on the contrary I just built a quick 1/72 chopper with my son, from Airfix, it was the most desesperating thing to buil....
back to your kit...i like the base color very much...it is not white, nor cream, nor dust...
The black wash just brings all details out. Good job.
Thanks Tojo72
Rubber band tracks did not stay together. not a big deal since i can hide the wire tying them together under the skirts EXCEPT when they break at a second point half way around. i was afraid thinner wire would just cut throgh the track. so it's build-a-base time to hide this amongst the sand
got it washed aftre buying some nice new 000 brushes and trashing most of the ones in my oil wash box. now i can't find the front tow cable and it attaches to 2 holes in front. now the plan is to make the clamps and fill the holes and play with speaker wire to try to get a nice looking cable. should just buy one of my ship guys a 6 pack and use his rope walk for an afternoon and make 10 feet of 4 strand cable. NOTE: decided to cover holes with brackets as i refine my speaker wire into tow cable technique
had to scratch build the HMG mount too. going to leave the track on since it is wired together in 2 places and have the tank slid off the trail with sand piled up a bit on the bad side.
skirts and fuel drums are washed too, just haven't put them on yet. next step is making my own dust from pastels and scrubbing it in.
It's an older kit but I enjoyed it,your technique looks good.
picked this up at a stash sale. it was water damaged so free with a purchase. i wanted something simple and fast for a change.
somehow i misplaced the pe engine louvers and screens. after scratch building them i found the missing pieces. typical Tamiya, easy build, no surprises exscept my own making.
this should be interesting. when i first used Vallejo i bought a bottle of sand for OTS T-55 mineroller. primed it with gray as usual but the paint coat was real thin. i figured it was me and new paint until i looked and saw i had bought sand primer. anyway kept it, washed it, and gave it some heavy dusting. took a first at a regional.
SOOOOOO since the sand primer gave it a panel line type look i thought let's try it big scale. here is the result. i will give the turret one more coat as there are definite areas that need more coverage. this has potential, given Vallejo has many different color primers.
