Road wheel seams

Sherman roadwheels did not have seams on them.

Are these modern day reproductions?

Photos of new or very lightly used HVSS rubber tires show a casting seam.  Photos of HVSS rubber tires after a few miles show no casting seam.  

Photos of most VVS roadwheels show no casting seam.  Perhaps the photo by jester75 shows a new or lightly used one (the other three visible roadwheels show no seam).    

To the OP, the vast vast vast majority of VVS roadwheel pictures show no casting seam.  You decide what you want.  Perhaps a seam was normal in the production and present on newly mounted ones.  This is one detail I'd NOT keep on either VVS or HVSS roadwheels persnonally. 

^ Yup. A new, spare wheel on an -E8 could show a slight mold seam, but once they're in use, the seam goes away in minutes, just like the little mold pips on a new set of tires.

And if you look at the road wheels in the top photo, you will notice the little chunks missing here and there. That happens more and more with use, but few modelers add it to their builds. Sometimes they re quite pronounced, other times minimal like in the top photo. But always a nice touch of realism.

Some good information and added proof that just because you've seen a picture of something on the internet, it may not have been the norm.
