WIP Tamiya AMX-13. Complete 9/27
Posted by Tojo72 on Friday, May 27, 2016 9:37 AM

Thought I get this one up here, interesting subject and a nice Tamiya build.I was surprised how small it was as you can see it next to a Panzer 38

I ordered Takom indies to replace to rubber band tracks

This is where I'm at right now

Oh this is going to be awesome Tojo.

After seeing all these odd tanks in World of Tanks I developed a real interest in stuff like this. I'd thought about picking up the older Heller version but now maybe I'll try this one or the Takom kit. Just a neat tank with the two-part turret and the auto-loader.

Looks like a nice kit and you're doing a great job on her so far. Yes

Thanks Gamera,

You know the deal Takom is better detailed and has the indies, and the Tamiya is a more basic but nice build. So it's whatever kind of build you prefer, close in price too.

Well I've gone as far as I can for now.I weathered with AK Dust Effects Wash, and Mig Pigments on the muffler.I dulled it with Alclad.Still waiting on the tracks, better pics when I finish up.

I had no idea Tamiya sold that kit.

It came out really well- the turret seal looks good.

I slogged out the turret of the Heller kit to go on my Egyptian Sherman tank destroyer.

It's pretty interesting how the Egyptians and the Israelis (and others) had them, and Egypt decided to swap turrets onto a M4, while Israel redesigned the Sherman turret and put the gun in it.

Really nicely done.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Looks cool Tojo, nice dusty look you've got there. Looking forward to seeing her with the treads on.

BTW: I assume with the canvas cover molded on the turret doesn't articulate (not sure the term here)?

That's a nice looking AMX. Looking forward to the tracks being put on to get the full effect.

Well the Takom indies finally arrived,so it will be back to work on this one.I'm glad I saved the Tamiya one piece tracks in case I bit off more then I could chew, but I did do Panzer II Magic Tracks,so these should be manageable even if they are tedious.

Hey man, this is a very nice rendition of a subject I haven't seen here before.
Looks like you got everything in order here except a very, very,
tiny  minor little quirk with the handle of that shovel.

Wow, those tracks may be manageable but they don't look like much fun! Dead

Good luck Tojo!

Tojo,

This came out very nice. I haven't seen many (if any) http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/images/smilies/gc/gc-anxious.gif of these.

I'll look forward to your next project.

Sorry i missed this one. Really nice build there Tojo. I had not realised tamiya had done one of these either. I did have the Hellerkit years ago, i forget what happened to it, but i do know it never got built.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
