1/48 Armor GB 3 Anyone?
Posted by waikong on Friday, July 8, 2016 1:39 PM

Wow, its been a while since I tried to organize a group build.  It was 1/48 scale armor #2.  Since then, Tamiya continues its output, Italeri has joined in, AFV and Hobbyboss dropped out.  Tamiya has finally released a few modern subjects (HumVee and JDSF main tank) Airfix and skunkworks has some interesting aircraft related ww2 and related support vehicles as well. Easter European makers have a choice of Soviet subjects including a btr-60pb from micro-mir. We have our first plastic WW1 kit with RPM's ford 1917 truck in different setups.  Heck, we even have a 1/48 Elco PT Boat from Merit International!

Has 1/48 finally crossed the threshold to be taken seriously after 8 years after being revived by Tamiya? (I'm ignoring the Resin kits that has always been availble)  I'm in with Tamiya's early Tiger with a Lions Roar upgrade PE.  Thinking from now until End of Year.  Anything that is NOT an aircraft and has wheels qualifies.

So anyone interested?

Good to see you on this Forum Rob, been a while since I was in a group build.  But given the response, I guess there just isn't enough interest for a GB.  That's too bad.  I've just started on the Tamiya Early Tiger, cracked open the box and test fitted a few items.  I have a Bandai Jeep also waiting.

I have a bunch of old 1/48th scale Bandi armour kits I have been building. Currently have a M3A1 half track waiting to get started. Gary

And It's started. The kit came with a very nice engine, which is something you don't get with other kits. Gary

Nice US half-track. with all the kits Famous have produced, I would have thought one of these would have been in the works. see that built, does it come with any figures?

I need some inspiration and maybe trying a 1/48 might be the ticket. Only problem is that football starts next weekend.
