I have a question, upon your sure-to-be-a-star creation, I have never heard of a Tiran. Is it a modification of anything?

Yea, its an upguned T55. They put an L7 105mm and some other bells and whistles; they were converted after they were captured in the 1967 Arab/Israeli war. They had them in service into the early to mid 1990’s.

Later...

Very nice!! The MK tracks alone would drive me nuts. Is the turret covered with putty to add texture? What add-ons did you use? Once again, great build!Big Smile [:D]

That is, not a great build, but an AWESOME build. I can't wait to see painted pics of it!
I though that the turret looked vaguly familiar of the inverted frying pans of the USSR

Thanks for the pictures. I have this same conversion sitting on my shelf, but haven't had the motivation to get it started. Now I do. If only I can finish the SA-2 and T-55 Enigma. Will you go with Israeli or Southern Lebanese Army markings?

Well let’s see, it’s a Tam. T55, legend Tiran 5 resin set, Eduard PE, Verlinden dozer, MK tracks and some home brew odds and ends. When I was adding all of the IDF goodies I had to fill and sand all of the eastern block tie-down locating marks and that removed Tamiya’s beautiful casting marks on the turret so I used some Mr. Surfacer 500 and stippled it to get the finish of cast steel. Thanks for all of the kind words guys, all of you IDF gurus, I’m not sure I have the 60mm mortar mounted in the stored position right. Did the ball on the end of the tube go in the mount? Any help with that would be appreciated.

Thanks again guys.
