I believe Kampfpanzer is now the term Germans use when reffering to tanks. I think it translats to Main Battle Tank. The term panzerkampfwagen is very broad and i guess because its also lnked so clodley with nazi Germany, not very PC.

Just curious, why do they call it "kampfpanzer" instead of "panzerkampfwagen"? Could it be to avoid the simmilarities with WW2 tanks?

Thank's Gamera!  I did enjoy the change, it's a whole different genre of modeling.  I loved it.  I really liked how the Leopard turned out and shooting the tank in the wet terrain like that was just icing on the cake.

Thank you sir, I'm most honored that you think so!  I have to agree with you as far as the cost benefit is concerned.  I was really lucky as Mrs. Toshi was able to catch this particular kit at 50% off from Hobby Town USA. Thank you for the read and reply!

Sorry i couldn't p[ost on this sooner Toshi. You have done a really nice job on this, some nice subtle weathering effects, definatly a good kit to practice on.

That's quite alright, no big deal.  Thank you for your comment, especially in regards to the weathering.  I didn't know if it was enough or not.  I'm very glad you liked it!

I ran into two difficulties, one was I put the loaders hatch on backwards but I was able to fix that since I didn't cement it.  That was thank's to Phil_H! Second, there were these cables made of really soft plastic that I just couldn't work with so I left them out.  Just weird!  LOL!

Here is what's left of my armour builds.  I'm missing a Tamiya Bulldog, that was donated to Mrs. Toshi's friends son.  I hope you enjoy these pics!

Nice work Toshi, and quick too.. Smile

It looks like something's a bit off with the loader's hatch. I think you have it reversed. It should be flat in the cupola when closed or flat against the turret roof when open. I think you may have positioned it with the arm of the mounting pin (B16) pointing backwards instead of towards the cupola.  If you haven't glued it in, just lift it out and turn it around and everything should just fall into place.

Thank you sir!  Also thank you for pointing that out.  I just fixed it.  I was trying to figure it out why it looked so odd and did not fit!  LOL!  Again, thank you my friend!

What did you use to replicate the terrain?

In the back of the condo where I live, there's a gutter drainage ditch.  That's what area I used to take the photo.  It also helped that it rained today.  Thank you for the read and reply/question!

Wow, you whipped right through that kit! What color did you use for this one? I like it.

Weathering, like any other thing we do is all a matter of practice. Just like in aircraft modelling, you want to look up at least a few reference pictures on Google just to see if there is any way you'd like to make your build look.

For you're first use of that weathering kit, you did a good job of utilizing it. I've been using those washes from that set for months and there is almost nothing you can't use them on lol. That green wash is perfect for cockpits, for instance. The brown wash works very well for dity pit floors as well. Depends on what look you're after.

You'll find that set will only enhance the rest of your builds if you get creative.  ;)

Nice Panzer, Toshi. I don't even have one of those yet.  :)

I wasn't even paying attention to my building time frame.  I was so concerned about making this right plus I was having so much fun, I lost all track of time!  LOL!

As for the color, I used Vallejo Model Color (That's all Hobby Lobby carries, they don't have Model Air.  That's too bad but I just thin out the Model Color with Vallejo AB Thinner) German Camoflauge Dark Green 70.979.  Then in the back of the Vallejo kit, is the directions.  I just followed the directions and played it from there.

I even blew pigment with a little binder through the AB.  I think I'm not supposed to do that but it worked.  I'm just surprised my AB didn't get clogged with the dry pigment!  LOL!  I just was not thinking!  I think?  LOL!

I then took Vallejo Model color Black 70.950 and dry brushed certain areas un-thinned.  My final step was to use Tamiya Weatherine Master A and Master F (Titanium) to bring some hard edges out.  I probably upset a lot of armour modelers with what I've done so please excuse my ignorance.

I made a mistake by not placing the decals on prior to weathering but I was able to fix that.  I hope you enjoy the outdoor photo scenes.  Thank you for always checking in on my builds to see how I'm doing, this helps me so much in my progress!

Nice work so far Yes That is a great "learner kit". Perfect for trying new tecniques or ideas on. A simple kit to have fun with and not fret about if something gets mucked up.

Thank you stikpusher!  That's an understatement, I'm definately learning (Barely able to) how to assemble and paint this kit in a correct order.  I've been messing around with aircraft so this is new territory for me.

I've been browsing through the armour thread to get some footing into what I'm doing.  Forum members of the armour thread do some outstanding work!  It amazes me!  WOW!

So far at this point, it was a very nice as you said; "Simple kit", but I did mess up and forget to apply the decals prior to weathering.  So that's my goal today.  Apply the decals and try to blend them in with the rest of the Leopard tank.  Thank you so much for always looking in on my builds and making sure I'm heading in the right direction.  I really do appreciate your help on this matter!

Toshi, I am watching you! It has been well over 55 years since I built a piece of armor; so you will have to show me how! So far it is looking good!

Thank you Shipwreck!  I'm so honored that you would follow my simple builds.  I don't think I can show you how to build armour, but it's definite that you can teach me everything in modeling.

I just try to do my best in looking into forum members builds and to copy what I think is right, sometimes it backfires!  LOL!  Thank you so much for your support in this armour build.  I really appreciate your read and replies!

I messed up and forgot to apply the decals prior to weathering.  I was so excited in experimenting with the Vallejo weathering kit, it slipped my mind amoung many other items!  LOL!  At least I didn't weather the turret yet so that's going to get the decals then the weathering.

Other than that, this is a nice and fun change from always building aircraft.  It's a whole different genre and requires a unique set of skills although as I've learned from you all, everything is relevant.  Thank you all for for the read and reply!
