i picked up tamiyas 88mm flak cannon. i would prefer to bulid the anit-aircraft gun, and the waffen ss figures. did they use the aa or were they anti-tank?

I believe that the 88 did both jobs. The luftwaffa usally provided crews for dedicated flack positions. I also think the gun shield was optional depending on the roll the gun filled. The army or SS would use the gun for anti-tank/antipersonal.

gjek is on the money, Luftwaffe AA crews usually operated the guns defending airfeilds and cities (semi-permament positions) but the Heer (army) and SS both used the 88 in their division AA units. The sheilds were optional but most pics I have seen the sheilds are missing (they were no defense from a B-17 or a tank and could seriously restrict feild of vision). It would be historicaly accurate to build an SS crewed FlAK 88
