AFV Quiz #9 (in M1's absence)
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 20, 2004 3:39 PM
I am having problems accessing Ron's site at the moment and my web site provider does not allow direct linking, so I can't post the pics direct in this forum.

I have posted them on my web page:
http://www.geocities.com/petbat1961/quiz.html?1079819221203

Again I have posted 2 pics. One should be easy, the other may again test you. Feel free to have a go at one or both, just email me with your answers. Please do not post answers or real hints in this thread.

I will update the site periodically to show who has guessed right for each pic. Answers will be posted at the end of the Thread on Friday Australian time, (Thursday night US time?). Good luck, and happy hunting.

It's a self propelled, all terrain swimming pool with filler pipe and cylindrical life guard tower, right? Where's my prize?

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

9a looks like a variant/development of the Priest SPG.

9b, if I'm not mistaken, is a TAM. TAM is a light tank developed by Germany and Argentina. The chassis and works are derived from the Marder MICV, and main armament is a 105mm gun.

45 guys have already seen this post and the above answers, so I'll have to terminate the quiz here or my mailbox will lock up.

Answers are

9a: M37 Gun Motor Howitzer Carriage. Developed on the M41 chassis, this was the replacement for the M7 Priest in US Service.

9b: TAM-3. The TAM is the inservice Argentinian bred tank that uses the German Marder APC chassis and hull with a hybrid turret.

Will post Quiz #9 part 2 for a bit more fun.

What a waste I know that one, Pete. Well, it looks like it was unintentional (the posting of the answer here).

Anyway, I was also late for the previous one. I knew the Valiant but didn't have a clue on the amphibious vehicle.

Well, pete let's move on to the next.
