Appreciate the vote of confidence Lee, but I'm no where near the league that Mr. Hunnicut is in.
Of course his Sherman book is at the top of the heap. Covers all the technical data as well as many of the variants. But there are some very good smaller publications that a person can use to build up their info on the Sherman. Here's a list of a few that I have found to be helpful.
- "Sherman In Action" by Bruce Culver - Squadron / Signal Publications
- "M4 Sherman Walk Around" by Jim Mesko - Squadron / Signal Publications
- "Tanks in Detail - Medium Tank M4 (76mm & 105mm) by Terry J. Gander - Ian Allan Publishing
- "M4 Sherman" by George Forty - Blandford Press
- "The Sherman at War Vols 1 & 2" by Steven J. Zaloga - Concord Publications
- "M4 Sherman" by Michael Green - Motorbooks International
- "Modeling the Sherman Tank" - Ampersand Publishing
Many of these are still in print or available at clearing sites like Abebooks. The last one listed is very rare and was going on E-Bay for around $65.
This should get you started anyways.
Happy Modelling and God Bless
Robert
