M24 Chaffee project questions

 Probably styrene (plastic) sheet and shapes. You cut, drill holes, ect. your own shapes and sizes and glue them accordingly. Go on Youtube and search scratch building with styrene. That's the easiest answer I have.  

Depending on how big it is, you could also use some sprue filed to shape.

What kit do you have. This will help anyone who may have built it as they will know what the part looks like.

Bish: OP says it's the WOT tank -- thus the 1/35 Italeri kit.

Recon: that square bit should be easy.  Simply cut an extraneous piece from the kit sprue tabs.  File and whittle it down until it matches the size you want.  Then glue it on.

Thanks for the input. The one part can easily be craved down to work. It came with a few extra parts that specifically tells you they are extra.  The one part is close to the shape already.  I have learned a lot from everyone on this forum so far.  I have read a ton of old posts that has changed the way I think about building models.  

Thanks I will order it.  I stopped my build on my M24 until I get it. It is 90% and that may help me with the finishing steps.  IE painting and weathering.  Plus I'm sure it will help with a bunch of little things that I struggle with.    

Need a little advice. I got my Chaffee about done I used future before I did any weathering work.  What can I use as a final dull coat?  I have seen a few suggestions, one of them being use future cut with Windex. I'm a little nevious don't want to destroy what I have done.  Can you give me a few suggestions.  Keep it simple please I never done anything like this before.

I think the simplest answer to your question would be some good old fashioned Testors dull cote.

Easy to find at both Michael's and Hobby Lobby. HL also carries Vallejo clear matte if you want an ultra flat finish with your airbrush.

Make sure you shake either choice REALLY well for good results.

For a beginner, I second the choice of Testors Dull Cote.  Get the spray can.  When you paint, make sure it's not a dusty area and you have good ventilation.  Spray cans should be used in multiple fairly fast light passes.  Don't just aim at an area and shoot.  Multiple passes.  Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I picked up some dull coat today.  I just developed a new problem.  I just found my model with both tracks busted at the exact same spot on both sides.  2 days ago when I finished the oil wash I put it in my hobby room shut the door and went back in tonight to start and they were busted. No other damage to the vehicle. So now I am trying to figure out how to fix.  To short to glue back together.  I have been looking at replacement tracks but not sure what to purchase.  Any ideas on why this happened?  The tracks were pretty flexible when I put them on and the broke about 3 inches from the connection.
