She looks great Mike, nice work!

I lost a bunch of my old photos on Photobucket, guess I should look into retaking and reposting some of my stuff too.

Looks good Mike. Very much at home in the woods setting... now you just need a platoon of Shermans led to by Fury to duel with your Tiger. Wink

Pictures are now missing from most of this thread, but I've uploaded a few I don't think I've uploaded before. I don't see them here. I completed this one last summer.

In the end, I simulated a late war color pallette. Darker colors seemed to really make this build look meaner.

Thank you very much for the compliments, gentlemen. I didn't go all the way with this paint scheme and to my eyes it shows. But it should have some rather nice shelf presence now, mixed in with Jr's video games and other collectables.

So thank you! The feedback is nice.

I built the initial production version as a Tunisia Tiger and it assembled properly.

Somewhere I have a photo of a "disassembled" Tiger that my late F-I-L took in Tunisia in late 42/ early 43. In the album under the photo he wrote "Jerry Tank".

Thanks Carlos. This is what happens when your teenaged son wants all of the cool parts. Lol!

He loves it. That's what matters.

Good looking finish Mike. Yes Looks like you have something of a "hybrid" Tiger yourself. Late model (mostly) hull, plus an early/mid model turret... most unique  and personalized Wink

You've put another kit on my radar... Toast

The Italeri Tigers are perfectly fine kits. Yeah, they can use a touch of help here & there, but they look just as good once completed side by side with all the high end kits. I did the Italeri initial Tiger in Africa markings years ago for our AMPS GB at the Nationals and it looked as good as the rest of 'em: Dragon, Tamiya, etc.

Very nice job on yours Mike. Interesting that it has all the sub variants parts in in WoT boxing. If I can find one for a bargain price, I could build the "hybrid" Tiger of an early turret on a late hull that appeared late in the war, probably a salvage of two damaged tanks.

I love how well this Tiger turned out! I used the Italeri mid-prduction kit to build Tiger  300 of s. Panzer Abteilung 505 on the Eastern Front. She features the charging knight emblem. I added the log mounted on the sides, painted the cannon barrel a dark brown and added Fruil Model tracks. She looks as good as any Tiger I on the market.

Yeah it's not the kit it's the modeler! A little TLC will work wonders. I think we get caught up on having the latest greatest kits too often.

She's looking sharp Mike!

I do love the newer kits that have been released, but they don't give me much opportunity to do much scratch building, and I do enjoy that part very much.

I've got Takom, Panda, and AFV kits in the stash and they're just a straight build and paint lol. Excellent details already. I think that's why I keep looking for the outdated kits to snatch up.

This Italleri kit is just good as it is. I don't think I did anything special to it lol.

Thanks, Bill! The cool thing about the World of Tanks boxing is that it has just about every part Italleri ever added to this kit in the box. That's why this model has such an odd mix of tiger parts. My son just wanted to add all of the coolest looking parts lol.

You can make an early, desert, or late Tiger out of this kit. You just have to dig out proper markings from the spares lol. The decal sheet offers only two Balkencruse and they don't conform, or stick very well. Lots of neat decals from the game, but that's about it.

I've actually applied a roaring tiger head to the back left armor plate, but it blends in because the decals are a touch transparent.

So even though the kit has lots to offer, it still needs better decals.

I'd buy another one for myself. Yup.

Thanks! I've got one last pic of the painted up details before I get some good pictures.

I'm happy enough with how it turned out.

She looks good! Yes

The camo turned out great and the sludge wash is really picking out the details.

I never saw the earlier pictures but these look awesome, great work on the new paint job.
I love it when I finally, often after years, finish a project - and when it comes out this nice, it’ll be  a joy to behold for years to come.

Sludge wash applied, scrubbed, and cleared with Vallejo clear matte. Effects are minimum chipping and I tried to simulate a grenade hit just in front of the TC's cupola. I just wanted to see how it would turn out.

Its beginning to look more like a beast. Something from that WoT game. Next up is detail painting to break up that cammo and give it a bit more life.

Thanks guys. I cobbled some decals together for it, but I didn't take a picture and now I'm at work lol.

I have learned that those WoT decals are not the best. They didn't want to conform to the Zim and I almost wiped one of the balkencruse off the back plating when I went agressive with the TET to snuggle it down.

I'll seal those up tomorrow evening and snap a picture.

I like the much-maligned Italeri Tigers.  I believe that they build well, look great when complete, and give me an opportunity to scratch-build some small details.  Great job!!!

Hello! It's been 4 years since this thread was started and I never did finish this project.

Well here we are in November of 2022 and I decided to go a completely different direction with the paint on this model. The whole tiger stripe idea wasn't a complete wash, but this Tiger needed an update and all of the picture links of the old scheme are broken.

I did get tired of seeing this old kit sitting incomplete and abandoned on my shelf of doom so I decided to repaint it. Now she's in more appropriate late war colors and I've got it ready for decals and a wash.

I know my son will be happy to see it finished... finally lol.

Chalk it up to modellers ADD, if you will. I left the wheels the dark grey but cammo'd the upper hull and turret. That'll make it somewhat unique lol. Like a recovered tank refitted for the end of the war.

Anyways, I'll post more later. I've got too many things going on all at once again lol.

Maybe I should just start one thread and title it, "What's Mike up to this time?" Lol. That way I can just consolidate all of this into one place.

Mostly imagination. I tore diamond shapes out of masking tape to try and replicate tiger stripes, but I'm not completely sold on it being tiger stripes yet.

I do like the looks of this pattern though. I'm going to just keep working it over till I'm happy lol.
