Tiger 1 in Russia
Posted by waikong on Friday, January 13, 2017 9:50 PM

This is my entry into the 1/48 Group Build that a small bunch of us are involved in, see http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/29/t/171890.aspx?page=1

Eventually, I'm going to put this on a nice base like Waynec did - that's why the commander is 'talking' toward the ground.  So tried out a whole bunch of techniques that I never did before, more PE, oil wash, pigments, tried my hand at better figure painting, added straps to the binoculars with tape, etc...  Many of these techniques I been 'absorbing' thru the fine modelers on this forum that patiently shared their knowledge.

All comments/critism are welcomed.  Come join us if you want to add your hat in the ring to support 1/48 armor.  Thanks for looking.

!/48th scale is too small for my eyes, but it looks like a nice build to me.

Scale has nothing to do with it. Your build looks good no matter what it is. Solid construction along with a good camo and subtle weathering. Well done

Really nice job there!!!

Don't take it the wrong way but I'd swear she was 1/35th if you didn't say so Wink

If all criticism is welcomed, then....  :/

The toolbox at rear left was made of metal, not wood.

This unit had two Tigers numbered S33 and the model seems to have features from both of them (e.g. the turret has no track holders, that's like the first S33; but the turret bin is the standard type, that's like the second S33. And so on.)

The Feifel connector tubes were metal, not rubber.

Very nice Tiger. Excellent camouflage and weathering. I remember starting out in 1/48 scale with Bandai kits. They were excellent kits.

Thanks for the comments.

Yes, I have a few bandai kits (in frog boxings). They are still fun, but the new Tamiya moldings are really much nicer in terms of details.  Much crisper and finer.
