Assembly step 4 calls for a "Poly cap (large)" between parts L32 and L4. The instructions give no part number for the "Poly cap" and I can find no such part in the kit. If anyone has built this kit and knows what it is I would appreciate the tip.

You're lucky. My kit was missing all the caps. Having to call Tamiya to see if they will ship me replacements.
You can go to their web page and get part numbers and prices, then call them. It was really easy. I had my parts within 2 weeks. Ordered some from Revell and they said 6 to 8 weeks! Still waiting.
