I am a bad, bad man

The local IPMS came to our city yesterday and my son and I went.

There were *way* too many good deals for 10$ (each) to pass up.

M60A2 (Starship) 1/35 from Tamiya

1/35 Tamiya Challenger (with Verlinden PE/resin additional armour)

1/35 ICM Soviet T-28

1/35 Tamiay Pz III Ausf M/N (been looking for one of these for a long time)

1/35 Tamiya Stug III with soldiers

1/35 Tamiya Remote Controlled Centurion

...The list goes on, and on.

Some model companies I've never heard of: Takom, Eastern Express, Panda, Accurate Armour, were out in force, I skipped becuase of last time when I grabbed a kit from a company called "skif" but the kits looked nice.

I know all the kits were "used" (open box buys) but some of the vendors...well I had to wonder their logic. Case in point, two guys, pretty much next to each other, had the Trumpeter Ramka-99 kit. One wanted near 70$ for it, the other...25$

I *really* *really* wanted the old Tamiya KV-2 kit, but of the two that were there, both vendors wanted 30$ for them, and I do not think they are worth that much (might be wrong, but that seems like a lot)

At the rate I build model kits, I will never ever finish any of these!

Let's rattle the cage, crack the machine. Let 'em know who you are, shine to be seen.

Takom, Panda and Accurate Armor are good manufacturers. Eastern Express is closer to Skif.

That tamiya Chally is a nice kit, and Accurate Armour do a nice update set for it. I didn't know they traveled that far for shows.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

$30 for the Tamiya KV-2? Not a terrible price, but you can find the far superior Trumpeter kit for around the same price. At $10 a pop for the others, those are reasonable deals. Except the Challenger, that was an excellent price with AM. A beautiful kit.

I just found out about IPMS and that they meet the first Wednesday of the month here (Ottawa, Canada). Thinking of going. I wonder if they also sell stuff. Didn't see anything mentioned, other than the occasional "swap meet".

On the bench:

-Zvezda 1/144 Tupolev Tu-154M
-Zvezda 1/72 Kamov Ka-50 Black Shark (NATO: Hokum) Russian attack helicopter

$30 for a Tamiya KV-2 with the smooth vinyl tracks is crazy. I paid $10 for the Trumpeter kit.I spent slightly more on the Lion Roar detail set that included PE and an aluminum barrel. Very nice set for a very good kit. If a KV is what you want, bypass the Tamiya kit and look for any of the Trumpeter kits.

A good deal on some. I bought the old Tamiya Semovente at a show for $5, but replaced the barrel and tracks for another $35. Lol not sure that made much sense. I should have boughten the Italeri kit. Tracks were more detailed, but stiff.
