Trumpy early T-62 burned out
Posted by Reserve on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 1:17 PM

About a year ago I stuck together a Tammy M-60A1 plus which turned out thus 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr

and decided it needed a companion on the eventual base. To that end I've started this

with a CMK powerpack/bay set

and a bit of scratching "thru the hatch" style. Here's what it looks like now

Presently I'm working on the cannon breech and the few things that will be visible once the turret goes on; it will not be much and I am far too lazy to put effort into what can't be seen

Regards,

Mark

The T62 is looking really good.  Excellent job on the engine compartment.

I am assuming these will be in an Operation Desert Storm (ODS, '90-'91) dio together. If that is the case, some of the gear on the M60A1 is too modern.  It looks like you used the latest Tamiya Equipment set.  The MRE boxes are post ODS, the earlier ones were flatter boxes.  The sleeping bag stuff sack was not introduced until about 2000.  The older Tamiya Modern U.S. Equipment Set (35141) has the correct MRE boxes and some other nice pieces that can be used for ODS.

Really nice looking engine there and the rusty, dirty effects look really good.

So after a nine month rest in the shelf queen section I pulled this down and finished it. There is a diorama base for this in the future, therefore no dust and dirt will be applied until just before installation as I really hate fingerprints on my models

First set of Fruil tracks I've worked with; they are not as awful to work with as I have heard some say in the past

Looking good. Like the engine bay and the heavy settling of the rear treads.

I like it! The squatted look from the un-tempered torsion bars is very realistic.
