Never said I don't make sandbags, but I seem to remember the article that pat-man is refering to and that's the technique I never tried. I always make mine with 2-part epoxy putty cut to size, lay them on the model to contour, press some course material over the surface for texture, and paint as desired.

I had some pics of my Stuart with tissue paper sandbags, but I'm currently "out of the country" so I can't get to them. It is a process to try your patience, but I like the end result. Tried Milliput once, just didn't "feel" right on the kit.

Doesn't every Sherman end up covered in them? Ya know, anything to slow down that 88.[:0]

Welcome and please post results. My next build is a M4(seriously) and it would be naked without sandbags....track links.....cinderblocks....wood....cement....sticks...kitchen sink.... Tongue [:P]

I know a guy who made some 1/35th scale sandbags from fabric used on R/C aircraft. I will be seeing him this weekend and I should be able to get some detailed information and will post it in this thread.

... I tried the tissue/RR sand way of making sand bags once... I found that Milput cut to size and draped over/on whatever you are sand bagging looks just as good if not better and was a whole lot eaiser... Big Smile [:D]

I've made some tissue paper and sand (model railroad ballast) sandbags, can't really help with the dimensions, but I eyeballed them and they look about the right size, maybe 3/4 inch long by 1/2 inch wide. It takes some patience, but once their tied off, dip them in your paint/glue mix and set them where you want them. They'll dry and harden nicely.

Yeah, I saw that one too. It's pretty difficult. I tried once (for five minutes) and gave up. I was trying for 1/72 scale, which only added frustration. Kinda stupid of me.

real sandbags

Hi,this is my first time in the forum and so far like what I see.I read an artical by Bob Colignone about making real sandbgs.He said he got his info frome the first issue of Finescale but gives no measurments or dimentions.Can anyone supply this?????Thanx in advance Pat-man
