HELP!!! Faun Transporter
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 3:34 AM
Gidday guys and gals. i have a question. i am buying a trumpter Faun SLT-56 transporter and i am trying to decide what i should buy to put on the back as a load. i had lined up a AS-90 in SFOR markings, or a leopard. Are these correct loads,? or is there any mass produced kits that would be abit different but were normally carried?? thanks for any help

Basically, the Faun transporter is a German Army vehicle. I don't think anyone else uses it. That being said, any German Army vehicle would be correct for a load on the trailer. The AS-90 (Brit Howitzer) would not be a typical load.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]
It is a German transport vehicle, and being operated by Germans, carries their equipment.
I have one too, it's a beast. Haven't started on it yet though. I'm going to be towing a Leopard 1 A1A4.
Check out this build review at PMMS, it might help you out somewhat:

The Tamiya Leopard 2A5 is the best bet for the load on the Faun.

My Faun is proceeding slowly due to other projects on the board.

BTW: Even OOB, this is a pretty intense build. There's over 800 parts to this kit. And unlike a tank, half of them are not tied up in the link to link tracks! This kit is not for the faint of heart.

But it does look inpressive. Even in the box.

There is a German PzH2000 from Revell AG. It's a self-propelled artillery piece. You could also go for the rather old m-110 a2 (203mm) self-propelled artillery piece. Both Revell and Italeri manufacture it.

Germany also uses the NATO version of the MLRS, that would look good up there too. DML makes a great version of the MLRS. They also use/used the M109A4, export Nato version of the US M109A3/5 (not the Paladin). Revell makes a M109A4 as well.

Good choice.
Keep us posted when you start building the best. I'll be interested to know if there is anything I should be looking out for in addition to the known issues.

I free handed the tank with an airbrush and about the only thing I did wheather was the tracks and used alittle pastels, I am still kinda clueless to washes, how ever I do find that by useing model masters buffable paints work great for guns and tools. I usually use gunmetal and titanium. Yoy can just see a bit of sheen in the top viewof the MG3.
